When we are under stress, the first place we feel pain and achiness is in our neck, shoulder and upper back area. They ache and burn from the base of your skull to between your shoulder blades. Here are some easy ways to help relieve shoulder and neck pain.

When your shoulders ache and your neck hurts it is can often be deep and achy. You may even have a headache, especially in the temples or behind your eyes or at the base of your skull. You may feel burning between your shoulder blades after sitting at your computer without elbow support. When we are under stress, the first place we feel pain and achiness is in our neck, shoulder and upper back area. They ache and burn from the base of your skull to between your shoulder blades. Here are some easy ways to help relieve shoulder and neck pain.

Stress. Stress. Stress.

The good news is that it is relatively easy to relieve this with massage. But, what are some of the causes of shoulder and neck pain? Stress. Stress. Yes, Stress, so stop stressing. Relax those shoulders!
  1. One of the first, primary causes of neck and shoulder pain and ache is carrying your shoulders up near your ears. Remember to relax your shoulders.
  2. Remember to sit up straight, lower your shoulders and bring your head back. Holding a phone between your ear and shoulder is also to be avoided, just get a headset.
  3. Avoid carrying a heavy purse, laptop bag or backpack. Ask yourself if everything you are carrying in your purse or laptop bag is really necessary. Switch your purse from one shoulder to the next frequently. Just de-clutter your purse and laptop to reduce the weight.
  4. Get a chair with arm rests. A working chair that has no arm rests make the weight of your arms hang from your shoulders.
  5. Put your hands in your pockets if you are standing for a long time and if your keyboard is too high, get a keyboard shelf that is lower than your desk that places your arm are a more supported level for your body.
Your shoulders, neck and upper back are the most likely area someone will massage you when they give you a neck massage, and it often needs it. It can be tender and sore and have spots which “hurt so good” to be pressed. It is not hard for a massage therapist to find knots and ropes and ease them out.

If you are in pain now, you can schedule an appointment online or give us a call and let us help you set your shoulders neck and upper back free with acupressure, soothing hot oil and warm stone massage combo, this shoulder, neck and upper back detangling combo never fails.
